Classical Training
Toronto Brothers Ashwin and Rohin Iyer have been formally studying Carnatic Music (the classical music of South India) since 1991. Prior to this they imbibed the musical traditions from their parents, who also come from a musical lineage of vocal and instrumental artists. They are currently senior disciples of veteran musician and musicologist, Sangita Kala Acharya Kalaimamani Shri S. R. Janakiraman.
Indo-Canadian Roots
Ashwin and Rohin have a deep sense of pride in both Canadian and Indian culture. Through performance and education, their goal is to establish classical Carnatic Music as a mainstream phenomenon in North America.
The Art of Science
Although music has a very important place in their lives, Ashwin and Rohin are also engineers by profession and are both currently pursuing postgraduate degrees at the University of Toronto.
